Ontario Power Authority's High Peroformance New Construction Program

High Performance New Construction Program (HPNC)

Ontario Power Authority (OPA)’s High Performance New Construction Program provides financial incentives to owners or developers of buildings ($250 - $400/kW of demand savings). Caneta Energy can guide you through the application process, provide the necessary energy modelling/simulation and provide advice on making your building more energy efficient.

Incentives for Custom Applications (requiring energy simulation):

  • Up to 25% above code 1 energy savings 2 --> $250/verified kW savings
  • 25.5%-50% above code 1 energy savings 2 --> $300/verified kW savings
  • >50% above code 1 energy savings 2 --> $400/verified kW savings

Up to a maximum of 50% of incremental project costs.

1 – Your proposed design will be compared to the 2006 Ontario Building Code
2 – includes both electricity and gas energy

Process:
Contact Caneta Energy before the schematic design phase of your project. A preliminary energy simulation must be completed in the pre-tender phase of design. Caneta staff will work closely with the design team during the preliminary design. An application will be made (including the preliminary energy model) by Caneta on behalf of the owner. The application must be accepted before the construction contracts are in place.

We will work with the design team as the design progresses and prepare a final energy simulation based on the “for construction” design documents which will then be submitted to the HPNBC Program.

Contact Caneta Energy for advise on whether you should consider submitting your new design to OPA’s High Performance New Construction Program.
