CEATI Residential Air Conditioning Pilot Study
|
Throughout June and July 2011, Caneta
Research staff will be approaching homeowners in Woodbridge, Newmarket,
Mississauga, Milton, Brampton and Vaughn looking for participants
to take part in a pilot study examining the benefit of high efficiency
air-conditioners on peak electrical demand. Caneta
Research is looking for homeowners who would allow their AC unit to be
performance monitored over the course of summer 2011. This will involve
the installation of an energy meter device on your breaker panel to
monitor the power to the total household, outdoor AC unit, and the
furnace fan motor indoors. Homeowners with high speed internet in their homes
would allow Caneta to remotely monitor the AC
system. There is also a survey questionnaire that asks about your
household and AC use. Your answers are completely confidential and will
be released only as a part of aggregated data in which no individual answers
can be identified. Caneta Research is
performing this study, initiated in 2008, on behalf of its contributing
sponsors including the Ontario
Power Authority in addition to several other provincial electric
utilities.
