The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a hospital campus located in Kamloops British Columbia. In 2015, a new Patient Care Tower Project was approved at RIH and construction began in 2018, with expected completion in 2022 . The first phase of this project is the construction of a new patient tower that includes surgical services, inpatient units, mental health services, retail, and more. The 290,000 ft2 facility was designed in response to a 2017 RFP issued by Partnership BC.
During the design phase, Caneta conducted energy performance evaluations to inform the design team of their progress relative to energy targets. Caneta was ultimately responsible for determining the “Design and Construction Energy Target” for the facility and for determining the number of LEED v2009 points for the Optimize Energy Performance credit. After construction of the facility, the team is required to validate the monitored energy consumption against the energy target.
