Guidance on Condensing Boiler Retrofits

Commercial gas-fired boilers manufactured after July 1, 2025 must have condensing performance if they are imported into Canada or sold across provincial borders. Installing retrofit condensing boilers can be challenging, but experienced installers have developed methods of addressing potential problems. Caneta helped NRCan develop a document (Natural Gas-Fired Hot Water Boiler Retrofit Installation Guidelines) to assist designers and installers with retrofit installations. Best practices are presented, along with several illustrative case studies.
